Ultimate Mistake

The following sign is displayed in many places in MINDEF and SAF camps.
It read:
The only way to avoid making mistakes
is not to do anything.
And that,
in the final analysis,
will be the Ultimate Mistake.
It is the spirit that says the person who fails is the person who does not try.
The worst mistake (refered to as the Ultimate Mistake)
is to do nothing, and simply wait for trouble to come.
Many of you may be familiar with the saying:
If I hear, I forget.
If I see, I remember.
If I do, I understand.
This is very true.
Let us not be just listeners and talkers.
Let us not be simply onlookers and observers.
Let us seek to be doers and learners.
The Ultimate Mistake lies in not thinking and not trying.
Avoiding the Ultimate Mistake lies in Learning by Doing.
